right before my eyes

cress. it grows extremely fast. it's almost like you can see it growing right before your eyes, but you can't. it's there all the time, but then in glimpse you realize it looks different, it has changed right there and then while you looked away for what only seemed like a second, but maybe it was and hour, a day, a month. you're not sure when it happened, but you see it now.

-----------------------------

my boys are turning four tomorrow. and i am getting awfully sentimental. even the cress in the kitchen makes me thoughtful and suddenly i find myself comparing the boys to cress. is that silly? maybe just weird... :)

anyway, we used cress a lot when i was a kid. i loved to grow it in different shapes. recently i discovered it again, mainly because i wanted to show it to the boys. but i really love the taste. and it is perfect in an egg salad.

  2. We do something familiar for Nowrooz(our new year's ceremony) , but just for beauty, we don't eat it. we keep it for 13 days after the new year's first day and then throw it away. but I love it. you know like in love with it! :)

Dear Trinsch, I received your breeze of sweet happiness. it was perfect! Thank you so much. You're really a good friend!

Kiss your sweet little boys and say happy birthday to them! :)

  3. Perfect on tomatoes on rye bread too :-)

I don't think you are silly. I too think times go fast sometimes - it was only yesterday my kids were toddlers and now they are around 20!

    Happy birthday to your boys.

  6. at first glance I thought "whaaaasdat?" but then I realised it wasn't an uber healthy (but not very appetising-looking) breakfast of the grit/seed variety. now I'm glad you don't have to eat the cotton wool.

I haven't had cress in ages (some silly people at university used it to pest others growing it on their beds, boo hoo. however, kuddos on how-to-quickly-and-cheaply-pest-fellow-students scale. well creative and kind to the environment ;)

comparing your boys to cress. yes, I can see that (just don't tell them about it.)

  7. this is really embarassing but I tried to grow cress and mustard earlier this year and it didnt work! I must have done something wrong because its supposed to be the easiest thing to grow right?

  13. I'd like to try growing cress, it looks like fun :)

I understand getting sentimental. The older I get the stronger this side of me comes out. Sometimes hearing a sweet song with minor notes will do it. Ask my husband - sometimes it puzzles him! :)

    Happy 4th birthday sweet boys...
