those last weeks
in denmark. summed up in random photos. it's been so overwhelming to come back in so many ways, not bad, just... a lot of stuff going on.
i still need to catch my breath which is the reason i haven't been around. i have had no time to sit down and no idea where to start. alas, one step back we go, to those last weeks we spent in denmark. some of the people, some of the places.
i will be back soon....

beach brunch on board
before we left, brunch on the beach with friends visiting from abroad.
this seems pretty far away right now, even if the sun has been shining today and i believe we must have passed the 20 celcius spot on the thermometer.
...and with this i should be over and done with the middle eastern beach photos for now. we'll soon move on and catch up with our days in denmark.
today i found a box of my old photos, pre-digital age. i was looking for photos while traveling in indonesia some time that seems like a 100 years ago. probably closer to 15 years, not sure.
we'd been at the zoo museum and i was going to show the boys photos of the me and a komodo dragon. thought i could impress them, you know, komodo dragons are fascinating, especially if you're 4 to 6 years old.
anyway, i went down memory lane. looked at other photos. people i hardly know any longer. myself, so young to look at. time really does fly. better pay attention.

beach camping
a couple of weeks back we went beach camping with friends. my mom was here and joined us. we used to camp a lot when i was a kid. my parents would pack the citroen dyane and drive to the south of europe in the summers. first with my older brother and me, later my younger brother would join us.
my mom is still going strong with the camping. as long as she has a decent cover to sleep on. and a chair during the day. and so she had.
i still love it, and everytime we've gone camping we're looking at eachother and agreeing we'll go again soon.

something about food
i had such an amazing seafood meal with an old friend back in copenhagen. it made me long for more so new years eve D and i made seafood dinner. it was good, but not as good as i had hoped it would be. i will definitely go back to that place when in denmark again.
today has been a strange day. after i went running i felt so tired and heavy. i couldn't take a nap, as i had a schedule and for some reason ended up with the house full of kids all afternoon. but i feel like i was in a bit of a daze, disconnected. and tired. without really getting anything done, except feeling hungry and eating crappy unhealthy snacks all the time to keep me going. so much for a new and healthy diet...
nothing to do but start all over again tomorrow. so, a good night from me to you.

people and places
i was planning to post some photos from paris, but i didn't get them sorted yet. which reminded me that i never really posted that many photos from this summer in denmark. so here we go. while waiting for paris some random shots of the people we love to see and spend time with when visiting denmark. i believe there are more to come.
have a wonderful weekend.

christmas sweets
the theme is definitely food. and with a snow storm even more so - you have to sit inside and warm your body and soul with good food and treats. and luckily there's time to cook and bake.
yesterday i went to a friends house. we baked cookies with five boys. it was sweet, energetic and very loud.
i'm happy we're just staying here for christmas. the entire country is on a stand still because of a blizzard, making driving almost impossible. this evening we went to my brother's house for dinner, luckily he's not living far away, so we put the kids on the sleds and walked there. as much as it slows down everything, calls for planning and extra effort, it also makes for such a special time, which i really enjoy and treasure.
merry christmas to everyone from me xoxo

neve tsedek :: yaffo
the day my friend left we went to neve tsedek for brunch. that's me right up there. i'm all over the place with portraits of moi these days, but this one i really liked. my friend took it and i love that you see her reflected in the glasses. and i love the sunflares and how the direct sunlight makes everything on the left side all soft. and it was a good meal too :)
then we strolled to yaffo for the fleamarket before i took her to the airport. in yaffo i found some really cheap type setter trays, and so i bought one as a birthday gift and another for myself. i found them in a shop with old wooden stuff all over the place. pretty much my idea of heaven.
and then there was this other shop. new stuff, made of discarded industrial wood. awesome stuff. like this plate shelf. the plates was instant love too. the texts are in hebrew and says "with love", "feel at home", bon appetit" etc.
it's still summer around here. but the nights are getting quite cold, so i've been digging for the woolen stuff. finally.
wishing you a beautiful first advent and a wonderful week.

corner view - autumn
autumn this year is, well, summer. it's hot, we still go to the beach and we wear flip flops. but the autumn feel is still here. the days are shorter and the sunsets early and pinkish, the air is dry, making the nights colder (and much more comfortable to sleep in). and the garden changes. right now we're having olives, and for the first time we have actually collected and prepared some. the above is one way we have tried. leaving them to dry in the sun for just 10 days or so, covered in salt. then clean them, put them in jars and add some olive oil. they are good! and for me, a northern girl, it's absolutely exciting to eat my own olives.
autumn also means birthday. today i turned 39. how do i feel? surprised. how did that happen? and grateful, because my friend is here this week, celebrating with me and giving me these sweet ice blue porcelain star ear rings.

corner view - famous
they are back, our famous pecans. strictly speaking they are our neighbor's, i must admit. but this tree just gives so many, it's unbelievable.
they owe their fame to this yummy pie, which i am planning to make this weekend. my friend from denmark will arrive this friday, and i think a pie is just in place.
but first i must tend to 2/3 of my little ones. we have fever and flue in the house, so far only two and i am crossing my fingers it'll stay with that. luckily the weather is lovely these days, and so we could go outside and get some fresh air, while resting in the shade.
for more famous corner views, go visit theresa of all of us.
