first film
these are from my first try with film. i found an old olympus trip 35 in my local thrift store, which a little googling told me is a simple, yet solid and - back in the 60s and 70s - very popular. it was cheap so i decided to give it a go. i have a lot to learn: it is such a different experience from the digital.
the complete lack of feed back in terms of light, focus and distance did, that i decided this first role of film to be a test - playing with settings and distance. and among the things i learned was, that i have to back off quite a bit ;) i would be more than happy to receive feedback and advice from you film shooters out there as i am beginning my second role of film.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the wonderful world of film photography! I am so happy you are trying this, I really am, and so proud of you!
:-)
xo
p.s. My analogue camera is a Olympus too. ;-)
wow, love everything about these photographs!
ReplyDeletebravo!
these are soft and real ..nice captures
ReplyDeleteAnd here are the paintings I liked so much: http://nathaliewoods.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think that you can see how great and beautiful they are on the web site.
i think they came out great. can´t wait to see the second roll :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE tha shadows in the forst picture. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I could live at your kitchen table - those wonderful shadows!
ReplyDeleteKeep going, you are doing some great things...
Lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteI find taking photos with film makes me feel wonderful. The process puts me into "flow" and I am transported....With digital it is more critical, on the spot assessing and discarding. (if you can catch what I mean...) :)
I find reading the manual really helpful, the one for this camera is...
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/olympus/olympus_trip_35/olympus_trip_35.htm
This guy has every manual I've ever needed here!
I have a lot of film cameras. My boyfriend works primarily in film too.
Best of luck with it!
Andrea
oh yeah, i love love love the second and third one. love that hazy seventies-ish feeling they have. really wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteFilm photography is so refreshing after seeing so much digital! I love the soft, grainy texture. The first one is beautiful, the lighting couldn't be any better.
ReplyDeleteThe light in the first pic is gorgeous!!! I'm so happy that you're trying film, Trine! I've got to warn you though: it's addictive ;-)
ReplyDeleteI find that my film pictures look best when it's slightly cloudy outside or when taken out of direct sunlight. The sun just 'wash' all details and colours away!
Can't really come up with anything else right now! I'll let you know if something suddenly pops up :-)
Horray for film!!!
these are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletesomething so magical about film... I love the one of the table- the colors are lovely and the sun feels really warm and nice.
great job for your first go!!!
(now I may need to pull out my old slr and play :)
I should have said, both the talbe shots (the blue one I really, really love though!)
ReplyDeletelove your home...so pretty
ReplyDeleteI loe the pictures they are so tender. So light. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteI mean of course ..I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteoh yay! this is so exciting! i really love these and i agree with ida ... it's addictive.
ReplyDeletep.s.: i had/often have the same issue - forgetting that i have to back off. you wouldn't think how many blurred pics i have because i was standing too close :)
I think that your first try is a success!
ReplyDeleteI was given my dad's camera last year. (He died when I was six.) No one has used the camera since then, but I did put film in it and shot a few test pics. I haven't finished the roll. I don't know why I've procrastinated; You've inspired me to right now get up and put that camera where I generally set my most-used one.
These are really good. I learned on a 35 mm camera and although I am by no means a professional, my advice is to just keep practicing. You are on a roll girl! But these are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job! I like the way the light is in the first photo. A few months ago I picked up my film camera and it is so different and sort of funny to hold. It felt so light compare to the digital. I also forgot the waiting of the moments to be develope. xo
ReplyDeletegreat result ... love them all !!
